ABOUT
Born to a British Mother and Ghanaian Father, Ama spent her primary and teenage years living in the south London hub of multicultural Britain — Brixton.
While completing her degree in Media Art and Cultural studies Ama worked at ITV, Sky, and Channel 4. During this time she began to meet creatives within entertainment and fashion the likes of whom became the roots to her industry network. Musicians such as P!nk, Kelis and Rita Ora being amongst the first of her clients laying the foundation to what would later become Ama’s established nail career.
Ama’s career as a session manicurist continues to open the door for her to be able to work with some of today’s strongest, leading people on stage, screen and in the pages of our favourite fashion and style titles. Including Adwoa Aboah, Adele, Michaela Coel, Solange Knowles, Rami Malek, Lakeith Stanfield, Cara Delevingne, Thandiwe Newton, Dua Lipa, Zoe Kravitz and Lenny Kravitz to name but a few.
Working with renowned fashion industry power houses such as David Sims, Edward Enninful, Phoebe Philo, Tyler Mitchell, Alastair McKimm, Harley Weir, Juergen Teller, Julia Sarr-Jamois, Grace Coddington, Nadine Ijewere and Tim Walker has allowed Ama to perfect her craft while working for publications including American, British and French Vogue, i-D, Wallpaper, Dazed & Confused, The Gentlewoman, W Magazine and L’Officiel Paris has cemented her status as a leading nail authority within the fashion and beauty industry.
Her nails have featured in recent campaigns for Saint Laurent, Palace, Cartier, Nike, BOTTEGA VENETA, MAC, Zara, Alexander McQUEEN, Prada, Loewe and Samsung.
Twenty plus years after meeting at secondary school, Ama and Latoyah decided to bring Ama’s fashion expertise and credentials to a nail bar experience. The location for the first salon was simple, it had to be the melting pot in which they were raised; Brixton.
Eponymously named after its founder, the AMA ethos is to amplify and accentuate the natural nail in all of its magnificent glory and adaptability. While offering premium traditional manicure and pedicure treatments AMA also has a ‘free from’ menu featuring polish and gel brands that are up to 90% natural, 10-free, vegan and cruelty free.
